The origins of Livar, the Limburg monastery pig, lie at Lilbosch Abbey in Echt, Limburg. Since 1999, the abbey has worked with small-scale pig farmers in Limburg to raise Livar pigs. The special crossing of breeds, feed from regionally grown cereals and the highest possible care for animal welfare, gives our Livar meat the best quality and taste. You can taste that!

The barbecue season is well underway. Time for Livar spare ribs! ☀🔥
We cook our spare ribs using the 3-2-1 method in the Big Green Egg Netherlands, this creates a wonderfully balanced flavour and the texture becomes so soft that the ribs fall off the bone. Instead of a classic barbecue sauce, this recipe uses an Asian marinade which also acts as a glaze. This gives your spare ribs a slightly different taste. You'll see that the end result is surprisingly delicious and you won't be able to get enough of it. Especially not in combination with the Thai salsa 🤤
